An introductory violin course for group
tuition suitable for the 5 to 6 year old
beginner.
The Happy Strings course began in
October 1999 and it was created to
introduce the violin to 5 - 6 year old
beginners.
It was written by Allegro Music's Principal, Esther Law, and John Allan, Head of Strings. The combined experiences of Ms Law's group teaching and Mr Allan's violin playing have produced a course which was carefully designed to complement and extend the syllabi of the Foundation and Prep Music Courses at Allegro Music.
Its aims are:
• to discover the joys of music
• to understand the fundamentals of music
• to enjoy music as an art and as a means of
self expression
The topics covered are:
• rhythm development
• pitch development
• playing the violin
• singing and solfege training
• active listening
• musical notation
• music appreciation
The benefits acheived are:
• a sound foundation for musical specialisation
• better listening, concentration and co-ordination skills
• greater confidence, co-operation and self-expression promoted through
group lessons
The student's violin can be purchased through Allegro Music. who will recommend the size best suited to the student and individually select and set up the instrument making sure that it is in proper working order. All accessories can also be provided, such as shoulder pads, rosin, strings, etc.
The award presented is:
• a Certificate of Attendance at the end of eight terms
The fees are RM400 per 10 week term
The non-refundable registration fee is RM100 inclusive of all materials (except the violin, bow, case and shoulder pad)
The class structure is limited to 12 students only (2 teachers per class)
The Happy Strings Course has been specially designed for students from the age of 5 to 6 years old. The course is divided into eight terms, each term lasting ten weeks and the students will attend an hour's group lesson weekly.
